{"id":1035,"date":"2020-04-23T16:07:39","date_gmt":"2020-04-23T16:07:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nevenlochhead.com\/?page_id=1035"},"modified":"2020-05-07T18:45:53","modified_gmt":"2020-05-07T18:45:53","slug":"j-u-l-y-2-6-2-0-1-8","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/nevenlochhead.com\/?page_id=1035","title":{"rendered":"J U L Y . 2 6 , 2 0 1 8"},"content":{"rendered":"\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Avenir Light, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Knot Project Space produced and presented a performance by artist, dancer and choreographer Ivanie Aubin-Malo, responding to and utilising the layout of the five-channel video installation by naakita feldman-kiss <em>Wednesdays, Before Piano.<\/em> This performance was presented as part of a series of events that brought together three young artists exploring intergenerational exchange (understood as the processes of learning, modes of relation and collaborative exercises that occur between generations) in their respective practices. <br><br><strong><em>O\u00f9 sont les anc\u00eatres? \/ Where Are the Ancestors?<\/em><\/strong> <br><br>This performance aimed to reintroduce elements from nature and our history into the exhibition space. What do we identify with today? Have we forgotten our essence? By drawing on her Maliseet Nation\u2019s dances and songs, Ivanie Aubin-Malo\u2019s performance highlighted the presence of the ancestors and honored their legacy. <br><br><strong><em>Ivanie Aubin-Malo<\/em><\/strong> <br><br>Upon graduating from l\u2019\u00c9cole de danse contemporaine de Montr\u00e9al in 2014, Ivanie Aubin-Malo met mentor Curtis Joe Miller, who taught her the Fancy Shawl Dance. Honoring her Maliseet roots, Ivanie dances and approaches subjects in relation to her Indigenous identity. She has collaborated with renowned artists such as Marie Belzil from Moment Factory, Tanya Lukin Linklater, DJ KXO, Buffalo Hat Singers, Moe Clark, Barbara Diabo, Alexandre Morin and Soleil Launi\u00e8re. Since 2016, she has choreographed and performed in Ktahkomiq by Ondinnok and Mito-Jogos de Recusa by Marcos Nery, presented at the SESC Festival in Brazil.
